375 VIN CENNES BREWERS DITION WUMBER LIMI 17 ANISHING BREW AMERICAN MON VER FROM THE HACK & SIMON PITTSBURGH BREWERY Eugene Hack, from Würtem- berg and Anton Simon, from Alsace, rented the Eagle Brewery from John Ebner in 1875. Two years later they bought it and reconstructed the entire plant. In 1890 they added a refrigeration ma- chine, built new cellars and stock houses. By 1896 they had a modern bottling plant. Their brewery, by 1900, pro duced 20,000 barrels of lage beer a year. Through this series of spe- cially commissioned signed artwork, "The History of American Breweries," we honor the men who formed the Brewing Industry in this country. This series contains A PREMIUM LAGER BEER, a beer brewed as it used to be. We at Pittsburgh salute these vanished American Breweries. O Hopfen und Maltz Gott erhalt's!
